The Politics of Urban Decarbonisation

Rather than being centrally orchestrated, forms of low-carbon economy and society are emerging in a distributed fashion - identified in the operations of corporations (consumer electronics, textiles, plastics); the workings of cities; professionals like architects, designers and consultants; within the production of food and food chains (meat, fruit, coffee); in cafés and restaurants; and within investment decisions shaping energy-systems and infrastructure for future decades.

This seminar on 14 January 2015 explored these issues within the urban context and the ways decarbonisation is subject to new forms of politics. The key speakers included Matthew Paterson (University of Ottawa), James Evans (University of Manchester), and Steven Bernstein (University of Toronto). James is a Visiting Researcher at Lund University and a member of the international advisory board for GUST. The pictures below show James, Matt and Steven in discussions and the presentations.
