The annual International Sustainability Transitions Conference (IST 2015) was hosted by SPRU (Science Policy Research
Unit) at the University of Sussex, Brighton (UK) on 25-28 August 2015. The theme was "Sustainability Transitions and Wider
Transformative Change: Historical Roots and Future Pathways" which aimed to view sustainability transitions with a long-term perspective. Two GUST researchers joined the event. Niki Frantzeskaki presented, among other things, a conceptual framework to study acceleration dynamics in European city-regions. In addition, she convened a dialogue session on the role of civil society in sustainability transitions. Lea Fuenfschilling presented a theoretical elaboration on sustainability transitions as processes of institutional change. The presented conceptual approach will contribute to GUST research on the role of ULL, in particular associated processes for sustainability transitions.
